Wandering down quiet, leafy Flinders Lane you’re met with beautifully preserved historic architecture and a very exclusive feeling that you’ve stumbled across Melbourne’s best kept secret. Here lies Hotel Indigo Melbourne on Flinders, unassumingly blending in with its surrounds. From the outside, the large windows give a peek of oversized artworks hung on curved white walls and you’d be mistaken thinking it’s an art gallery for those in the know.
Walking in, you’re met with a serene space that is adorned with work inspired by internationally acclaimed fashion photographer, Helmut Newton, whose original studio was in the Flinders Street area.
Newton’s work was a muse for the hotel’s design and fashion and art combine with funky interiors paying homage to the photographic artform. There’s even a specially designed selfie booth, draped in red velvet, for guests to capture their own Newton-esque memories.
Rooms offer views over Melbourne’s laneway culture of street art, hidden cafés, bars, boutiques, and galleries. With large photographic murals over the bed heads and walls, the photographic theme inspires guest to get creative and explore the city outside.
Downstairs is a French inspired bistro by Luke Mangan which offers casual cuisine. The dining room is draped with floor to ceiling curtains, cosy booths and views over Melbourne’s bustling city.
Just as no two neighbourhoods are alike, no two Hotel Indigo properties are alike and soon Hotel Indigo Auckland will be welcomed to the boutique collection. Taking centre stage on Albert Street in the heart of Auckland’s vibrant midtown, Hotel Indigo Auckland will open early 2025 and this exciting new outpost will reflect the cosmopolitan city, offering a unique blend of urban sophistication and natural beauty.
Referred to as the "City of Sails" due to its strong maritime culture and numerous harbours, Hotel Indigo Auckland will join its Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney sister properties as a hotel that allows travellers to immerse themselves in their local neighbourhood and culture. The hotel is set to offer modern, stylish guestrooms with locally inspired amenities, a 24-hour concierge service, French inspired restaurant, Bistro Saine, with a cocktail bar and lounge and spacious fitness centre.
Guests will get to enjoy locally curated amenities such as artisan coffee, organic New Zealand tea, and more, creating a warm and immersive experience that
connects them to the spirit of Auckland.
